During the journey, you will visit the Crypt of the Holy Sepulchre, located in what is today one of the city’s most vibrant districts, but which conceals within it a rather macabre past. You will then proceed to the Crypt of Santa Restituta, a magnificent example of late Roman and Byzantine architecture and one of the city’s most significant historical testimonies, enclosing within it the remains of various dominations. The tour will conclude in the Salesian Gallery, excavated in the 19th century as a limestone quarry and later repurposed as an air-raid shelter during the Second World War. Here, you can relive the atmosphere of those days through the stories of collected testimonies, illuminated by candles that today, as then, light up the gallery.
